Looking for
a summer job? Lifeguardingjobs.com
is offering the following tips to help high school and college students
find summer employment:
-- Start your
search early. This will give you enough time to acquire any additional
certifications and/or training you will need and help you figure out what
type of job you want to pursue.
-- Visit a seasonal
job site. You can find great information as well as have access to thousands
of summer openings across the country -- some of these web sites include:
CoolWorks.com, Campjobs.com, Lifeguardingjobs.com,
and Summerjobs.com.
-- Become an
instructor. Outdoor facilities are always looking for people to teach children
how to swim, play tennis, baseball and any other type of sport.
-- Work the
entire summer. Some jobs will give you a bonus if you sign an agreement
at the beginning of the season that says you will work through Labor Day.
-- Put together
a resume. Some employers do not request it, but if one does at least you'll
be ready to apply for the job.
-- Get a job
located near your home or school. Beyond the convenience, there may be
the opportunity for year round employment.
-- Get a job
in the aquatics industry. Most of these jobs require certifications but
they are in high demand, especially during the summers when most swimming
pools, beaches, camps and water parks are open for business.
-- Go into business
for yourself. Painting, mowing lawns, and walking dogs are all good options
-- and you can make your own schedule.
-- Become an
intern. Most internships don't pay but you'll get an opportunity to check
out possible careers.
-- Rule out
vacations. Employers hate when summer employees leave early for family
vacations. Plan them after the job is done.
